Zenith
In 1969 the Zenith El Primero automatic chronograph caliber made its debut in the watch world. It is one of the best and most accurate movements of all time. Two versions were available (Caliber 3019 PHC Chronograph with date and Caliber 3019PHF complete calendar moon phase). There are over 20 versions of the El Primero to date.
Fast forward to 1992 and the El Primero Rainbow series chronograph was introduced housing the El Primero caliber 400. The model was named after the famous Rainbow single masted racing sailboat which won the America’s cup in 1934. All case backs are engraved with a silhouette of this legendary yacht. Throughout the production there were several dial colors, fixed bezels, rotating bezels and different water resistance. Some earlier models were available in gold and steel.
The series production ended in 1999 but was still seen in catalogs in the year 2000.
The silver dial model offered above is the last production run of the El Primero Rainbow.
